PASSIONDEDICATION. COMMITMENT.  “That which drives you forward no matter the odds.”

These are perfect words to describe Melanie Christianson.  Mel put passion into everything she did; she dedicated hours with her two horses, Lady and Tina, to develop them into supreme speed event horses. Melanie lived to ride, the “horse bug” flowed through her veins.

On June 12th, 2010, at just 28 years old, Melanie was critically injured while she and Lady were competing. Melanie sustained a spinal cord injury and was now a quadriplegic, her future uncertain. After two arduous months in the hospital, Melanie was finally released to go home.

Melanie’s drive and ambition brought her to Pushing Boundaries. Pushing Boundaries challenged her in ways she longed for, the way she challenged herself in the arena.  It was this internal drive to improve herself that inspired every fellow client she came in contact with.   Mel changed the life of dozens of individuals by demonstrating the tenacity to push for all that is possible.

Sadly, Melanie passed away on August 21, 2013 at the age of 31.  Mel was selfless, challenging, tenacious, WICKED FUNNY, and inspiring to all she met.

Today, it is this PASSION that drives Mel’s friends and family to honor her legacy with the 6th Annual Melanie Christianson Memorial Race.  This benefit will raise money in Melanie’s name so that others will be given the opportunity to push for all that is possible.

Pack up the family and head to the Green River Saddle Club for an action packed, adrenaline fueled day as some of Washington State’s top barrel racers compete to honor the life of Melanie Christianson and raise funds for Pushing Boundaries.

Silent auction, raffles, and concessions will also be available.  Event will be held rain or shine.  For event updates, please join the Facebook page.
