Direct one-on-one instruction in the performance of comprehensive programs designed to improve and/or maintain balance, coordination, kinesthetic sense, posture, and/or proprioception for functional activities.

Exercise therapy improves physical function of those limited by paralysis. Exercises are utilized that encourage motor responses in previously thought non-functioning muscles and build on the existing level of motor activity. The expectation for recovery is realized by re-establishing motor pathways and/or strengthening existing signals, while working to avoid complications that often appear in conjunction with paralysis:

  • Deconditioning
  • Osteoporosis
  • Skin breakdown
  • Infection
  • Cardiovascular limitations
